Power Systems Engineer

$140K–$180K + equity
Brooklyn, NY
San Francisco, CA
Full-time
On-site

Strobe is building the world's largest power plant: not a single site, but a distributed fleet of buildings, batteries, EVs, and generators that buy and sell power in real time across wholesale energy markets.

Take sites from contract to dispatching: own interconnection, metering, market enrollment, and commissioning, and feed what you learn in the field back into the product.

What you'd own

Drive interconnection and utility approvals: applications, one-line diagrams, and the back-and-forth with utility and ISO engineers

Enroll sites in grid-operator markets and programs (NYISO, PJM, CAISO): demand response, capacity, and the metering and telemetry they require

Commission new sites: metering, CT/PT wiring checks, protection and interconnection settings, and verifying assets respond correctly to dispatch

Translate utility tariffs, interconnection rules, and market manuals into requirements the engineering team can build against

Serve as the technical point of contact for customers, installers, and AHJs as sites come online

Strong fit if you have

A power systems / electrical engineering background and fluency with one-lines, protection, and metering

Hands-on experience with interconnection (utility or ISO) and DER, storage, or generation projects

Working knowledge of wholesale market or demand-response program rules (NYISO, PJM, CAISO, ISO-NE)

Comfort moving between a spreadsheet, a relay, and a customer meeting in the same day

A bias toward owning the messy end-to-end problem rather than handing it off

You sit between the grid and the product: defining requirements, commissioning hardware, and working alongside our controls and platform engineers.

Small team, high ownership, no layers.
