Strobe is building the world's largest power plant: not a single site, but a distributed fleet of buildings, batteries, EVs, and generators that buy and sell power in real time across wholesale energy markets.

Our software spans the whole stack: the edge control plane that moves batteries, generators, and breakers, the cloud platform that connects utilities, grid operators, and OEM hardware, and the dispatch engine that ties them to wholesale markets.

Things you might own

Real-time control software on edge devices at customer sites, dispatching assets against NYISO and utility signals within tight latency budgets

Industrial protocol stacks (DNP3, Modbus, MQTT) that link our cloud to substation RTUs, meters, and OEM controllers

Wholesale market integrations (NYISO, CAISO, ERCOT): real-time pricing, capacity markets, dispatch signals

Green Button Connect pipelines that pull interval consumption, billing, and meter data from utilities (ConEd, PG&E, SCE) over OAuth2 + ESPI

OEM hardware and weather forecast integrations that feed the dispatch engine

Event-driven AWS infrastructure (Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync/GraphQL, EventBridge, IoT Core, TimeStream, Amplify, CloudWatch) managed through Terraform IaC

Telemetry pipelines from the edge: revenue-grade metering, breaker state, and asset health

Fleet device management: provisioning, OTA updates, and remote diagnostics for hardware in the field (balena, containerized edge runtimes)

Safety and failsafe logic for systems where a bad command can trip a breaker or violate an interconnection agreement

Observability, alerting, and on-call on systems where downtime means missed market events and real dollars

Strong fit if you have

Extensive Python — pydantic for models, click for CLIs, boto3 for AWS, async pipelines — or Rust, ideally both

Deep AWS experience (IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, EventBridge, TimeStream or similar TSDB)

Production Terraform (modules, remote state, multi-workspace patterns)

Experience integrating messy third-party APIs at scale (utilities, government, energy, OEMs)

Comfort with on-call for systems that control physical hardware and move real money

A bias toward shipping, with the rigor to keep safety-critical systems trustworthy

Bonus points

Hands-on experience with industrial or grid protocols (DNP3, Modbus, BACnet) and the messy reality of field devices

A track record shipping and operating software on edge or embedded fleets, not just in the cloud

Experience owning the reliability and performance of a complex production system end to end, from cloud services through the physical edge

Familiarity with wholesale energy markets, grid operator programs, or DER telemetry requirements

Stack: Python / TypeScript / Rust / Terraform / AWS / GraphQL (AppSync) / DNP3 / Modbus / MQTT / balena / Grafana. AI-agent-native monorepo with deep investment in agent-enabled engineering efficiency.

Small team, high ownership, no layers.
